Which city has the best water in the Rocky Mountain region?

A taste test was held in Loveland Monday to find the answer to that exact question.

Nine utilities entered the contest at the American Water Works Association's annual conference.

Judges determined Castle Rock's drinking water has the best taste, but one judge from CSU says it was a tight race because all Colorado water is top in the country.

"We do. We have snow-melt. We have the fresh water. You might have heard that somebody's wastewater ends up being someone else's drinking water. So we don't have that here," Dr. Pinar Omur-Ozbeck said.

7NEWS meteorologist Cory Reppenhagen was one of the judges.

East Cherry Creek Valley took second place. Aurora and Denver Water tied for third.
