CASTLE ROCK, Colo. – A trail near the Douglas County Fairgrounds is closed following the expiration of a land easement that allowed its construction on private property.
The city of Castle Rock posted on Facebook Thursday that the Sellars Gulch Trail is closed east of Lewis Street.
The trail was built on private property with an agreement that was scheduled to last 25 years. That time frame has since run out, so the city closed the trail.
The city said it was working to negotiate a permanent easement for the trail but had yet to reach an agreement.
In the meantime, a detour is in place along South Gilbert Street.
