ARVADA, Colo. – Police were still searching Sunday for a carjacking suspect accused of firing shots toward officers on Saturday night.

Officers were dispatched to the carjacking in the area of West 68th Avenue and Gray Street, where a gold Dodge Ram pickup truck had been stolen. Officers found the truck near West 58th Avenue and Kipling Street and began to chase it, police said in a news release.

When the truck broke down at Ralston Road and Allendale Drive, police took a female passenger into custody, and the male driver ran away and fired shots at officers as they chased him.

The man was last seen in the 5900 block of Johnson Way and was considered armed and dangerous. Officers searched the area for hours but couldn't find the man. The case was still being investigated on Sunday.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 720-898-6729.
