DENVER -- One of unique things about Cherry Creek are the brick sidewalks and brick streets, but another one of the brick sections is going away.
Thursday, crews will begin removing a section of brick pavers on East 1st Avenue at the Fillmore Plaza crossing. The bricks are falling apart and will be replaced with concrete.
Denver Public Works said the bricks are not sustainable on such a busy street and concrete will last longer.
There are no plans to replace the bricks on Fillmore Plaza, which were installed in the last six years.
The project is scheduled to be completed by Saturday.
