Boy dies after being shot in Arvada; another teenager held in manslaughter investigation

ARVADA, Colo. – A boy died after he was shot Thursday afternoon in Arvada, and a teenage boy is being held for investigation on a manslaughter charge in connection with the other boy’s death.

Arvada police officers were called to the 8100 block of Chase Drive around 6:45 p.m. Thursday on a report of a shooting.

Officers found the boy with a gunshot wound and originally took two other teenage boys into custody, though one was later released without charges.

The other teenage boy, who was not identified by police, was taken into custody and is being held for investigation on charges of manslaughter and recklessly causing the death of another person. The boy who was shot later died, police said.

Police said the investigation remains active and did not release further details about what led to the boy’s shooting death.
