BOULDER, Colo. — Investigation is continuing into the fatal shooting in Boulder just hours before and a short distance away from the popular BolderBOULDER 10k race.
Authorities said the man who perished just outside the Bramble and Hare restaurant on Pearl Street has been identified as Christopher King, of San Marcos, California.
They also identified the alleged gunman as Louis Sebastian, who had been booked into the Boulder County Jail early Monday morning on charges of murder. Police confirmed he faces charges of first-degree murder.
Boulder County authorities said in a release they are working now to learn whether or not the suspect and victim knew one another and why they began their argument inside the restaurant.
According to authorities, the argument escalated from a discussion inside the restaurant to a violent disagreement just outside.
"Many details related to this investigation cannot be released until witness interviews are complete to preserve the integrity of the investigation," Boulder County officials wrote in a release.
Although King originally hailed from San Marcos, police in Boulder said they believed he had moved to Boulder recently.
Police expect investigation to continue for some time, as they say many people were in the area when the shooting occurred.
