NEDERLAND, Colo. — A skier died on Thursday at Eldora Mountain Resort after crashing into a tree, according to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, the Boulder County Communications Center received a call around noon Thursday about a skier who had collided with a tree at Eldora Mountain Resort.

When first responders arrived, they found a man in his 30s with critical injuries. Authorities confirmed they believed he had collided with a tree on the Corona ski run.

A Flight for Life helicopter launched to transport the man to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead before it arrived, according to the sheriff's office.

The resort said the man was wearing a helmet.

Authorities talked with witness and determined that there was no indication anything suspicious had occurred. They said they do not believe any other skiers were involved.

The Boulder County Coroner’s Office said they will determine the cause and manner of death.
