DENVER -- Good morning! Here are 5 Things to Know for Tuesday, May 15.
1. Boulder assault weapon ban vote
Tonight, the Boulder City Council could make a proposed ban on "assault" weapons final. The proposal will get its third reading, after which the council can either approve the ordinance or postpone the vote and continue working on it.
2. Longmont oil and gas forum
Also tonight, after a controversial vote at last week's city council meeting, Longmont city leaders will answer questions on the future of oil and gas development. The city is offering to pay two companies $3 million to not drill within city limits. A final vote is scheduled for next week.
3. More storms expected Tuesday
The threat of severe weather is lower today but we could see some more storms and showers in the afternoon. Temperatures will be in the upper 60s to low 70s on the plains.
4. CDOT continues Infrastructure Week
The Colorado Department of Transportation will continue a focus on infrastructure this week with an update Tuesday in Idaho Springs.
5. Stapleton neighborhood residents vote on possible name change
A community meeting to vote on the Stapleton neighborhood name change is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday. The results of the vote will be released next month.
