JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — Late Sunday evening, authorities located the body of a missing person at Chatfield Reservoir.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced around 10:20 p.m. Sunday that the Jefferson County coroner will identify the person and determine a cause of death.
According to South Metro Fire Rescue, two paddleboarders went out on the lake and somehow became distressed Sunday afternoon. One was pushed to shore by the wind and was evaluated by medics. Witnesses told SMFR that the other person went under water and didn't resurface.
The rescue was switched to a recovery mission around 5:40 p.m., according to SMFR. CPW ranger boats and SMFR dive boats were used for a sonar grid search.
