A hiker's body was recovered Tuesday in Pitkin County by Mountain Rsecue Aspen personnel, Pitkin County Sheriff's Office spokesman Alex Burchetta said.
The hiker fell in Christiana Peak, located very close to Capitol Lake, which is west of Aspen.
Mountain Rescue Aspen personnel began their hike into the area where they were met by two of their colleagues who had spend the night in the field with the hiking partners of the deceased hiker.
All eight MRA personnel, working with a backcountry outfitter who provided a horse to help in the recovery, were safely out of the field by 3:20 p.m.
The identity of the deceased hiker will be released by the Pitkin County Sheriff's Office as soon as family members are informed.
Christiana Peak has an elevation of 12,751 feet.
