DURANGO, Colo. (AP) — Authorities in Colorado say the body of a man was found over the weekend after his empty canoe was discovered on a lake south of Durango on Friday.
The Durango Herald reported that the body was discovered under 36 feet of water at Lake Nighthorse around 11 p.m. Saturday.
A search began after an empty canoe was reported floating on the lake Friday around 7 p.m.
Durango Police Sgt. Nick Stasi say the body was identified as 60-year-old Andrew Ward, who was last seen by himself at the boat launch Friday afternoon. The cause of death has not been determined.
An autopsy is expected to be performed next week.
