Body found inside burning vehicle on I-225 in Aurora, police say

AURORA, Colo. – Police found a body inside of a burning vehicle in Aurora early Sunday morning and detectives are investigating it as a suspicious death.

Officers responded about 1:40 a.m. to a report of a car fire near southbound Interstate 225 and East Colfax Avenue. Aurora firefighters put out the fire and found the body inside the vehicle.

The body could not be identified by officers, police said. The Arapahoe County Coroner's Office will identify the body.

The incident had shut down a portion of I-225 for several hours Sunday morning but the highway was re-opened by 7 a.m.
