Body found in pond identified as missing Longmont 19-year-old

Posted

LONGMONT, Colo. — Just a day after police located the body of a man floating in a Longmont-area pond, the Boulder County Coroner's Office has connected the death to that of a missing man.

Authorities identified the body as that of missing 19-year-old Aravind Elangovan, who had been missing for  weeks.

The search for the teen had intensified, as authorities said Elangovan suffered from mental conditions. He did not have any identification on him at the time of his death.

Police said parkgoers inside the Golden Ponds Nature Area flagged them of a possible body floating on the southeast side of the easternmost pond on Wednesday evening, and investigation has been ongoing since then.

“It’s too early in the investigation to say whether there is foul play involved,” said Commander Joel Post of the Longmont Police Department.

As the coroner's office continues to work to learn the cause and manner of death, police investigation continues.
