GREELEY, Colo. -- One of seven suspects in the biker-gang murder of a Pierce woman pled guilty to several charges including conspiracy to commit murder.
Scott Hanchett, 22, entered his plea in a Weld County courtroom Tuesday. He is facing 55 years in prison for helping to dispose of Tara Lewandowski’s body in September of last year.
Prosecutors allege the leader of the biker gang that called themselves the “21 crew” approved a hit on Lewandowski, 34, over an argument about drugs. Court documents say she was hit in the back of the head with an unknown object while being stabbed her in the chest with a hunting knife inside her home. Authorities found her remains in Wyoming in May.
Court documents show Daniel "DJ" Meyer, 36, told Weld County sheriff's officials he stabbed Lewandowski. Meyer was a trustee on the Pierce Town Board. The same documents allege Karly Hanchett was the one who struck Lewandowskie in the head.
Two other suspects, Chad Iler, 19, and Michael Vassil, 24, are accused of dumping her body in Wyoming. Two other members, Thomas Vassil, and Crystal Griffin, are being held in the Weld County Jail.
