DENVER – Major retailers are expanding same-day delivery service in Denver amid increased competition from Amazon.
Best Buy and Macy’s announced Friday that they will begin offering Prime Now-like delivery service to several new markets, including Denver.
Beginning next week, customers in Denver who purchase eligible items on Bestbuy.com can get those items delivered to their homes the same day – but the items will need to be purchased by 3 p.m. local time.
Best Buy will roll out the service in Denver – and 12 other metro areas – on Wednesday Sep. 6. The cost to have your Best Buy purchase on your doorstep the same day is $5.99.
Macy’s is also getting into the same-day delivery business, too. Starting this fall, the retailer will begin offering the option to customers in Denver and in 14 additional markets.
Customers shopping on macys.com or bloomingdales.com can select the “same-day delivery” option at checkout to schedule the delivery of any item available at their local store.
The purchases will need to be made by 1 p.m. local time and customers will need to meet the company’s free-shipping threshold ($99 - $150) to get a discounted rate of $8.
Both companies will be using a third-party delivery service called Deliv. The California start-up crowdsources delivery drivers much like ride share services.
