BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. – A large and hungry bear ripped off a barn door and got into the chickens at a Gunbarrel home late Thursday before deputies and others scared it back to the woods early Friday morning.
The bear was reported near 63rd Street and Jay Road just after 11 p.m. Thursday.
The bear ripped off the door to the barn and feasted on the chickens inside – leaving only one alive.
It then retreated to a tree, where neighbors and sheriff's deputies tried various options for several hours – including bean bag rounds – to get the bear out.
After growling at everyone for some time, the bear was eventually coaxed out of the tree and back into the forest.
