Authorities in Mesa County investigating illegal marijuana grow on public land

MESA COUNTY, Colo. — Authorities are investigating an illegal marijuana grow on public land in Mesa County.

Authorities are currently working in the Grand Mesa area of Kannah Creek and the community of Whitewater, according to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office.

The public should expect increased law enforcement — including a Colorado Army National Guard helicopter — in the area throughout the day Wednesday, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office announced Wednesday morning that it is investigating along with the Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Homeland Security Investigations, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Grand Junction Police Department and Western Colorado Drug Task Force.
