AURORA, Colo. — Police in Aurora are investigating a hit-and-run involving two drivers who both allegedly ran over a man and left the scene.
On Tuesday evening around 9:30 p.m., officers with the Aurora Police Department were dispatched to the area around S. Salem Street and E. Mississippi Avenue regarding a person lying on the road.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man unconscious on the roadway. The man was transported to a hospital, where he died, police said. His name has not been released.
During a follow-up investigation, members of the Aurora Police Department Traffic Section discovered that the man had been crossing E. Mississippi Avenue in the middle of the block when he was struck by a tan SUV. The driver of that car then left the area, police said.
As the man was lying in the street, he was struck by another unidentified vehicle. Police said the second vehicle was possibly a red or burgundy truck. That driver also fled from the scene.
