Aurora police investigating early morning homicide at E. 17th Avenue, Iola Street

AURORA, Colo. — Police in Aurora are investigating a homicide that occurred Friday morning.

Officer Anthony Camacho with the Aurora Police Department said around 12:20 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a 911 call regarding shots fired and a person lying in the street around E. 17th Avenue and Iola Street.

Once officers arrived, they found a male in the intersection who had been shot, Camacho said. Efforts to save the man's life were unsuccessful and he was declared deceased at the scene.

There were no witnesses, but police found a bicycle at the scene, Camacho said. It was not clear if the deceased man had been riding the bike or somebody else.

Anybody with information is asked to call APD Det. W. Miller at 303-739-6117. This case is being investigated as a homicide.

The Adams County Coroner’s Office will identify the cause of death.
