AURORA, Colo. -- Police in Aurora rely on their K9 partners for a host of activities, both dangerous and benign. That's why officers are rejoicing at getting their partners additional protection.
Two recent vest additions are protecting both Deuce and Draco as they protect the community in the field.
The hook is police don't always have the funding to suit up their four-legged companions in protective vests. That's why Aurora Police are especially grateful that the public is charitably giving to help fund the quest for enough vests.
Recently, police say they secured funding for all seven of their active duty dogs, but now they're looking to take the positive momentum and help others.
Friday, the Aurora Police K9 Unit is holding a demonstration for a dog named Moose -- the personal pet of an Aurora Police officer who has fallen ill and needs medical treatment.
Funds raised from the show will directly help Moose's family pay for medical bills.
