DENVER — Atari says it’s planning to build a series of video game-themed hotels across the country, including in Denver.

The classic video game brand announced this week that it had struck a deal with GSD group to develop Atari-branded hotels in eight cities: Austin, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, Phoenix, San Francisco, San Jose and Seattle.

Atari plans to build the first hotel in Phoenix, with other locations to follow.

Atari hasn’t released any concrete details about the potential Denver location, saying only that they hope to have more information to share in the next few months.

The Atari hotels will feature “immersive experiences for every age and gaming ability,” the company said, including the latest virtual reality and augmented reality technology. Atari said some of the hotels will also feature space for esports events.

Atari said it expects to break ground on the Phoenix hotel in mid-2020.
