DENVER, Colo. -- If you’ve been walking through Downtown Denver, you may have noticed some new pieces of artwork.

The series of nine sculptures are the work of Mexican-born artist Jorge Marin.

One of the pieces, “The Wings of Mexico,” is particularly attention getting because of its design -- making it easy to take a picture with the giant bronze wings behind you.  It’s located in Commons Park, near the 16th Street bridge, west of Downtown Denver.

The public artwork is generating public opinion.

One passerby describes it as angelic, while another says it represents freedom.

The sculptures will be on display until September 30.  The display is part of a larger vision for downtown parks and public spaces.

"Art is the universal language that unites us as human beings,” said Marín. “And in the public space, is a tool to generate more reflective and peaceful societies."
