‘Armed and dangerous' suspect in custody after hours-long standoff in Aurora

AURORA, Colo. – An hours-long armed standoff in Aurora came to a peaceful end Wednesday morning.

A suspect wanted on domestic violence charges was taken into custody near 3095 South Peoria Street around 10:45 a.m.

The man was described as being armed and dangerous and barricaded himself inside an empty business for several hours.

Police closed roads and warned residents to stay away as they tried to convince the suspect to surrender. Police said surrounding businesses were not affected.

The standoff started around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday when officers attempted to pick up the suspect on the outstanding domestic charges. 

Police have yet to identify the suspect.
