ELIZABETH, Colo. – A deputy with the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office is on leave following his arrest over the weekend.

William Morris, 36, was arrested in Elbert County on Sunday on assault, domestic violence and child abuse charges.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by Denver7, Morris and the alleged victim got into an argument at his home in Elizabeth and Morris shoved the woman, injuring her. The affidavit states the victim was treated at the hospital for redness and bruising.

Morris is facing two charges of child abuse because his children were in the home and witnessed the incident, according to the affidavit.

A spokeswoman for the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said Morris is on leave without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
