Apartment complex installs 100 window AC units after central AC fails

Residents get relief as heat wave sets in

DENVER -- A heatwave has descended upon the Mile High City, with temperatures in the 90’s for about a week now – and threatening triple-digits the next few days.

Some residents are feeling the pain.

More than 100 tenants at the Boulevard Park Apartments on South Colorado have been dealing with a broken central air conditioning system.

“It’s not surprising,” said Robert Morefield. “We’ve been through this before.”

The complex has had ongoing issues for about two years, according to residents.

Fortunately, relief came Wednesday. An army of men in orange shirts showed up to install about 100 window AC units. The men said they were with a property management company called Olive Bark.

Residents say the central AC came back on this past weekend but went out again after working for only a day-and-a-half.

It’s a complex with aging buildings.

“I’m lucky in that I live on the very ground floor,” Morefield said. “I suppose the people who live on the top floor are really suffering.”

Morefield said the window unit would provide some relief from the heat.

“I’m thankful for it,” he said.
