ATHMAR PARK, Colo. -- Denver7 spoke to another victim of Evan Bretches Monday after we reported he admitted to killing at least eight cats, according to the Adams County District Attorney’s office.

The victim, Samantha, believes Bretches killed her two cats a few months ago.

Thornton PD investigators are looking for several of the cats’ former owners, who were tricked into thinking they had found a great new home for their pets on Craigslist.

"To show the kind of pain he's caused people will hopefully help put him away," Samantha said.

It's why she's sharing her story about the two cats she adopted from a farm, that quickly became family.

"So I really loved them, they were always on me and really cuddly," she said.

But when Samantha and her boyfriend broke up, she briefly moved away and her boyfriend found the cats a new home. Her only requirement was that her ex meet the new owner in person before saying goodbye to Simon and Garfunkel.

"Evan Bretches came over and he said he seemed really nice and the cats were for his daughter," Samantha said.

Samantha is the second victim Denver7 has met. Angela Lewis also thought Bretches would give her cat a great home. In an interrogation, shortly after police found a cat beaten with a hammer dead in his family's home, Bretches vaguely admits to one other similar situation, but as detectives dig, they discover there are more victims out there. They reached out to Samantha's ex a couple weeks ago.

"He said the person I gave them to was a sick person," Samantha said. "There was photos of them bloodied in the backseat of the car still alive, and that left me wondering if they're still alive."

Now she hopes more people will see this and come forward as she tries to move on.

"I have volunteered to work at the animal shelter. I just want to avenge their lives or do something because I feel responsible that I wasn't here for them."
