Man bound over for trial in ex-wife's death

A judge ruled Friday there is enough evidence to try a man accused of killing his ex-wife.

Andrew Ausmus was arrested in October after Teresa Ausmus was found dead in a house fire in Strasburg.

Strasburg and Bennett firefighters said they found the victim on the ground in the garage and dragged her out of the home to safety, then discovered the woman was already deceased.

Andrew Ausmus is scheduled to be arraigned on a charge of first-degree murder and arson on April 4.

Teresa Ausmus, known as "Terry," had filed several protection orders against Andrew Ausmus during their stormy marriage and even after she divorced him in early 2014.

In April 2014 -- only a few months after the divorce was completed -- Terry Ausmus filed another protection order against her ex-husband. She wrote in court papers that a drunken Andrew Ausmus had called her on the phone and yelled that he was moving back into their home. He ordered her to move her belongings from her bedroom.

"He is a large person and I fear for myself that I am in danger if he is allowed back at the house," she said.

Andrew Ausmus is on a no-bond hold in the Arapahoe County Jail.
