MORRISON — The Red Rocks Amphitheatre and surrounding trails are a favorite spot for workouts, and this Sunday, that exercise can go to a good cause.

The American Lung Association’s Run the Rocks 5K and 10K returns Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at the amphitheater. Thousands of runners and walkers are expected to attend, including many with lung disease and lung cancer, as well as their friends and families.

The annual run is a signature fundraising event of the American Lung Association. Each race will not only showcase the beauty of the area, but will also support the efforts of the association to improve Colorado's quality of air and lung health.

Registration and information packet pick-up begins at 8 a.m. and the event starts at 9:30 a.m. Roads around Red Rocks will stay closed from 9-10:15 a.m.

After the race, participants can enjoy live music from local bands, exhibitors, food, an awards presentation and more.

All of the money raised from the race funds lifesaving research for lung cancer, provides resources to help local residents quit smoking and allows the association to advocate for clean air programs.
