SHERIDAN, Colo. – An Amber Alert for a missing 17-year-old girl from Sheridan has been deactivated after she was found by authorities early Wednesday evening.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation said just before 6:30 p.m. that Samantha Herrera, 17, had been contacted and that a violent and armed man she was believed to be with was now in custody.

Later on Wednesday, a spokesperson with the Sheridan Police Department told Denver7 Herrera was found at around 10:45 a.m. inside a home in the area of Elmer and Larson Drives in Northglenn. The man, 18-year-old Rodney Brown, was taken into custody at around 5 p.m., the spokesperson said. He is currently being held at the Adams County Jail.

It's unclear what led Northglenn authorities to the home on Wednesday.

Authorities issued the alert Tuesday night, after the teen was last seen in the area of Hampden Avenue and Santa Fe Drive in Sheridan around 5 p.m. Sheridan police said they received a 911 call from two screaming women around 5:10 p.m. Tuesday. One of the women said Herrera was yelling and trying to get out of a car, which was driven by Brown, her boyfriend. They were in a physical struggle, police said, and he prevented her from getting out of the car before driving away.

Police initially said Brown was driving a 2000 White Honda Accord, but that vehicle was located Wednesday.

They also said there was a court-ordered protection order, which prohibits Brown from contacting Herrera.
