NORTHGLENN, Colo. — Two missing Longmont girls were found safe after an Amber Alert was issued late Friday evening.
Police said the girls may have been with a violent man who possessed weapons.
Eternity Duran, 11, and Unity Duran, 12, were last seen Friday in the 1200 Block of Regina Lane in Northglenn, according to the initial police bulletin.
Police suspected the girls were with 61-year-old Larry Guerra, their grandfather who had custody of the children.
Speaking to Denver7 on Saturday, a spokesperson for the Northglenn Police Department said they received a report of child abuse on Thursday. However, once officers responded to the scene, Guerra had already left with the two girls in tow. The spokesperson said that's the reason an Amber Alert was issued for the two girls a day later.
The spokesperson said Guerra will no longer have custody of the girls.
He was in police custody following the Amber Alert deactivation.
