A man wanted by Ohio authorities for allegedly raping a young girl  was arrested Friday afternoon at a Westminster hotel where he was working.

David Lee Skelly was working under the name Herman Maurice Singleton at the Residence Inn, according to Alex Rutter the Deputy U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio.

The 40-year-old Skelly had been on the run since 2001 when he was accused of eight counts of rape on a girl under the age of 13.

Over the years, tips placed Skelly in locations all over the U.S. and  Mexico.

He was profiled on America's Most Wanted on several occasions and even presumed dead at one time.

The break came when a Colorado state investigator contacted the U.S. Marshals office about a case he was investigating, Rutter told Denver7.

It was not clear how long Skelly may have been living and working in Colorado, said Rutter.
