BOULDER, Colo. – Two people have been arrested in connection with a sword-wielding attack that left one man injured in Boulder Wednesday afternoon.
Twenty-six-year-old Cody Scott Parker and Aneta Urban, 37, were arrested after Parker was spotted chasing, then attacking, a man with a sword at 14th and Canyon near the CU-Boulder campus.
Authorities were first alerted about the suspect after he was spotted carrying a sword in his backpack at 14th and Walnut Streets at around 3:30 p.m. Another caller reported Parker was chasing the man near the Wells Fargo at 1242 Pearl Street, according to a Boulder Police Department spokesperson.
Parker was then spotted at 14th and Canyon where an altercation ensued and the victim suffered a serious hand injury, according to police.
The suspect, who police said knew the victim, then reportedly left the area on a bicycle.
Parker will be charged with first-degree assault, while Urban will face a conspiracy to commit first-degree assault charge, the spokesperson said.
Court records obtained by Denver7 show Urban's run-ins with police date back to 2001. She has been charged for making false reports, failure to appear in court, traffic violations, among others.
The victim was taken to Boulder Community Health. His condition is unknown at this time.
The attack forced University of Colorado Boulder officials to issue a campus-wide alert after they received reports that a person had been injured.
