ARAPAHOE BASIN, Colo. – For the first time since 2011, Arapahoe Basin was open for the 4th of July holiday. While the ski resort does not give out the numbers of visitors, people on the hill said they waited at least 45 minutes in line to ride the lifts. Many people showed up, not to ski but to listen to the live music and just celebrate with friends.
"This is a must-do," skier Steve Keer said. "It is a rite of passage. Fortunate to call this my fourth 4th of July up here. A lot of rookies. Gotta tell them how to work it. Today is spectacular."
Arapahoe Basin was the last ski resort open in Colorado.
