WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. -- What was once an empty school has now turned into an active shooter training hub for law enforcement officers.

“We are district that has unfortunately experienced some tragedy,” said Jefferson County Public Schools Safety Director, John McDonald.

Last month, the Martenson Elementary School was turned into a training facility. The building is staged as an elementary school.

“Law enforcement request use of schools all the time for training and it's really difficult to provide them a location to train on active shooters,” said McDonald.

It cost the district $150,000 to build the training facility.
