The powerful blizzard that moved through the state of Colorado this week was a blessing for the mountains, but a curse for residents in Estes Park.

911 service, Internet connectivity and cell phone reception are all out in the Estes Valley, according to Estes Park spokeswoman Kate Rusch. Outages are also affecting some landline telephone service.

The Platte River Power Authority estimates repairs will be completed Thursday night or sometime on Friday, Rusch said.

Weather damage done to the fiber optics lines in the foothills west of Loveland was identified as the cause of the outages by city officials Wednesday evening.

General recorded updates will be provided at (970) 577-3716 as more information becomes available. Estes Park officials are also providing recorded updates on local radio at 1470 AM.
