BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle crash that left an 85-year-old cyclist dead near Longmont Monday morning.
Around 8 a.m., CSP responded to Highway 119 and N. 83rd Street on a report of a crash involving a Chevrolet Equinox and a bicycle.
First responders performed CPR on the 85-year-old male, found at the scene, but the cyclist was pronounced deceased at 8:06 a.m.
The Boulder County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the cyclist.
Investigators said the cyclist made three lane changes, moving from the right shoulder into the far-left lane of southbound Highway 119.
The Chevrolet, traveling southbound on Highway 119 in the left lane, struck the cyclist as he crossed in front of the vehicle.
The driver of the Equinox, a 33-year-old Longmont woman, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, CSP said.
The Colorado State Patrol's Vehicular Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate the cause.
