COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- Upset about the recent violence against police officers, a 7-year-old Henderson boy decided to do something about it.

Landon Silver said he saw the violence on TV after the Dallas attacks.

“I was sitting over at my spot, eating breakfast,” Landon said. “I felt bad about what happened to some of the other police officers in Dallas. So, I'm just like - 'We should do something for them because I bet they're really stressed and overwhelmed.'"

His mom, Lindsey, agreed. And so, they started to sew.

Landon had recently learned how to sew with a sewing machine, so Landon and his mom decided to make neck warmers for police officers.

“My mom taught me to have my hands further up in front of the fabric,” Landon said. “It takes a lot of practice. You have to start slow. But, after you get used to it – you can really start to zoom.”

The neck warmers are filled with rice that can be warmed or cooled and liquid lavender to give them a nice fragrance. Both are touted as being therapeutic.

Landon delivered about 20 of them, in various fabrics, to the Commerce City Police Department.

“We were all moved by this gesture of support from this young man. They’re very nice,” said Commander Harold Chatman. "To be honest, we are quite pleased with the response from our community in general. We're going to go out and do the best possible job we can for our community. And we know that there are a lot of members in the community that support us."
