LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. – A 64-year-old Weld County man died when the raft he was in flipped over on the Poudre River Tuesday morning.
The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office got a call for help around 10:30 a.m. Rescue crews rushed to the scene on the river off State Highway 114, 11 miles west of U.S. 287.
The unidentified victim was among seven people in a commercial raft that flipped over. The other occupants of the raft made it safely to shore and were not injured.
The victim was pulled from the river, and the commercial raft guide started CPR. He was later airlifted to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
All occupants of the raft were wearing helmets and personal flotation devices.
The victim’s name has yet to be released. The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said the man was a resident of Severance in Weld County.
