Good morning and welcome to December, Colorado! Here are 5 Things to Know for Monday Dec. 3, 2018. 

1. Man avoids possibility of life in prison with plea deal in Bollinger murder case

The man accused of murdering Natalie Bollinger in 2017 after allegedly responding to a Craigslist ad for a hit man was sentenced to prison. He agreed to plead guilty, avoiding a first-degree murder charge and the possibility of life in prison. He was sentenced to serve 48 years behind bars. 

2. President George H.W. Bush to lie in state at Capitol, to be laid to rest in Texas

The official schedule of memorial services for former President George H.W. Bush, who died late Friday at the age of 94, has been released. The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. EST/9 a.m. MST Wednesday. This photo of Sully, Bush's service dog, laying next to his casket has gone viral. The highly trained Labrador will go back into service to help other veterans. 

3. Reminder: This restaurant is not a drive-thru

Early Saturday, a car slammed into The Hornet in Denver. It caused thousands of dollars worth of damage, but nobody was hurt. This is the third time a car has crashed into the building this year. 

4. RIP, Sgt. Jason M. McClary

This Fort Carson solider died after an explosion in Afghanistan in late November. He was 24 years old. The Pennsylvania resident had arrived in Fort Carson in October 2017. 

5. NASA spacecraft and asteroid finally meet

 

The OSIRIS-REx mission is NASA's first asteroid sample return mission. It will spend two years with the asteroid and will collect a small sample before it returns to Earth in September 2023.
