The busy holiday travel season is here.

Try these five must-have apps to help your adventure go smoothly:

Don’t get lost with GateGuru, a free app on both Apple and Google Play. This app has maps of each airports' terminals and restaurants available.

Outsmart traffic with help from Waze, a free app that shares crowd-sourced traffic and navigation information. You can check out real-time road conditions and get alerted before you approach accidents, road hazards or traffic jams. Waze is free for iOS and Android.

Save money on gas with Gas Buddy, a free app that provides real-time, accurate fuel pricing information and reviews of gas station amenities and services. Search for gas stations near you, or look ahead on your route to find the best one near your next stop. Gas Buddy is free for all platforms.

Make your trip more fun with Roadside America, which shows you thousands of the nation’s funniest and weirdest must-see places. Oddball monuments, quirky museums, Muffler Men and more. You can instantly see what’s nearby along your route. Roadside America is $1.99 to unlock one region of the U.S. or $5.99 to unlock the entire U.S. and Canada. It is available for iOS.

If your pet is traveling with you, use the Bring Fido app to find pet-friendly places to stop along the way. Bring Fido gives you on-the-go access to pet-friendly restaurants, hotels, dog parks and other attractions across the country. It is free for iOS.
