GLENDALE, Colo. — A man stabbed four people inside Shotgun Willies Show Club before he was fatally shot by onsite security Friday night, according to the Glendale Police Department.

Captain Mike Gross with Glendale Police, said the security guard that shot the suspect was one of the four stabbing victims, who also included two staff members and a patron.

One of the stabbing victims, a 40-year-old man, was killed in what police described as an "active killer event." The three other victims were identified as follows:

  • 44-year-old white male – critical condition
  • 45-year-old white male – stable condition
  • 24-year-old Hispanic male – stable condition

The victims were transported to Denver Health for treatment.

The knife-wielding suspect was identified as 40-year-old Kyle Evan Swain of Arvada. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police said Swain was a frequent customer of Shotgun Willies and, within the last few weeks, was told he was no longer welcome at the establishment due to erratic behavior.

Around 9:45 p.m. Friday, Swain drove up to the front door, exited his vehicle armed with a large knife, and entered the bar. Staff immediately attempted to intervene, and two staff members, a patron and the on-duty security guard, received stab wounds before the security guard shot the suspect, according to police.

Shotgun Willies announced on their Facebook page that they would be closed until further notice.
