3 ways Coloradans are protesting the Dakota pipeline

DENVER – Several groups in Colorado have joined the protest against the four-state, $3.8 billion Dakota Access pipeline in North Dakota. 

In early November, students from Manual, East, and South High Schools organized a public rally in front of the Colorado State Capitol to show their support for the Standing Rock Sioux tribe.

Previous protests at the Capitol building drew hundreds including State Rep. Joe Salazar D-Thornton, who joined a rally in September.

Protesters stood outside BootJack Ranch in Pagosa Springs last month. The group held up signs advocating a boycott of the ranch, according to the Pagosa Springs Sun. The ranch is owned by pipeline developer Energy Transfer Partners CEO Kelcy Warren.

Protesters say the pipeline would threaten the drinking water on a Standing Rock Sioux reservation.
