DENVER – Three Denver Police Department officers are being praised for rescuing a disabled man from a large house fire last month.

The fire happened at a home in the 1500 block of S. University Blvd. on July 9.

Officer Jordan Pittsley was close to the home when the fire was called in, and was among the first people on the scene.

Officers William Tran and Jordon Schultz arrived shortly thereafter after receiving a call from Pittsley. The three went into the home, which was already filled with smoke, and found the 51-year-old man, who uses a wheelchair, inside.

They were able to carry him to safety and Denver firefighters put out the fire.
