DENVER – Police say speed and alcohol were likely factors in a crash that sent two people to the hospital early Friday.

The crash happened at about 3 a.m. at Colfax and Bannock. Police said a driver was headed east on Colfax from I-25 at high speeds, and was allegedly running red lights.

The car hit the median, smashed into a piece of art and then rolled, coming to rest in Civic Center Park. The car then caught fire.

Two people were pulled out of the car and transported to the hospital. Updates on their conditions weren’t immediately available.

Police said they believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash, but that the investigation remains ongoing.
