FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. – Two people were killed following a head-on collision near Penrose early Monday morning.
The crash occurred around 3 a.m. on Colorado 115, nine miles north of Penrose in Fremont County.
A Nissan Sentra was traveling southbound in the northbound lane when it collided head on with a northbound Chevrolet Trail Blazer, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The Nissan’s driver, a 33-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say he was not wearing a seatbelt. The 57-year-old male driver of the Chevy was buckled, but sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased by the Fremont County Coroner.
The names of the deceased will be released once next of kin is notified.
Alcohol and drug use are unknown at this time.
