3 dead in separate crashes Friday; roads closed during morning commute

DENVER – Three people were killed in two separate crashes that closed busy roads during Friday morning's commute.

Boulder County deputies said two vehicles collided near the intersection of Highway 287 and Oxford Road south of Longmont shortly after 2 a.m. The drivers of both vehicles -- a man and a woman -- were pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other reports of injuries.

Officials have not identified either of the victims.

Highway 287 was closed between Plateau Road and Highway 52. The highway was reopened shortly before 9 a.m.

Separately, Denver police said one person was killed in a crash at the intersection of 56th Avenue and Joliet Street. 56th also was closed while police investigated. The circumstances surrounding that crash weren't immediately available.
