DENVER – Colorado has some great new restaurants, and now a national food magazine has recognized two of them as being among the best in the nation.
Bon Appetitjust named Annette in Aurora and The Denver Central Market in Denver as finalists in its annual 50 Best New Restaurants in America list for 2017.
Bon Appetit gave Aurora’s Annette restaurantgood marks for its “sophisticated, ingredient-driven Mediterranean-inspired cooking from breakout chef Caroline Glover.”
The publication notes the restaurant’s “bright, airy” vibe and suggests diners to try the octopus patatas bravas, gnocchi with green garlic.
Annette, a scratch-to-table restaurant, is located in the Stanley Marketplace, which once housed the Stanley Aviation factory near where Stapleton Airport used to be.
Next on the list is The Denver Central Market. RiNo’s newest dining destination is more of a chic food court than a traditional sit-down restaurant.
Bon Appetit deemed the food hall's culinary variety as one of its most enticing features, writing in its review:
“The sweet tooth can snag an ice cream sandwich at High Point Creamery, and the health nut can sip her charcoal lemonade at Green Seed, all while you hit your dozen Kumamoto oysters with some mignonette at Silva’s Fish Market.”
The Denver Central Market opened in September of last year and houses 11 vendors, selling everything from fresh produce, fish and meat to hand-tossed pizza and ice cream.
The publication will boil down the 50 finalists announced Tuesday and get to the meat when it announces the hot 10 winners August 15. Both Colorado restaurants are in the running.
