2 arrested in shooting at King Soopers in Castle Rock

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. – Two men have been arrested in the shooting at a King Soopers grocery store in Castle Rock earlier this month, police said.

Hugo Vazguez-Topete, 26, of Aurora, and Benito Bautista, 25, of Denver, face several charges, including first-degree attempted murder, according to Castle Rock police.

The shooting happened about 7 p.m. on Aug. 6. at the King Soopers on North Ridge Road in Castle Rock. Police said an altercation between the suspects and the victim, a 25-year-old man, led to the victim being shot once in the upper body.

He was taken to a hospital in serious condition but survived. Investigators have not given a motive for the shooting.

Police were initially searching for a third person suspected in the shooting, but no charged will be brought against them.
