FORT CARSON, Colo. — Following a shooting at the Fort Carson U.S. Army post, two people were taken into custody. Military officials confirmed they are Fort Carson soldiers.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office identified the two suspects on Friday as Deques Smith, 27, and Rashad McCleain, 21. Mugshots were not available for either as of the time of publication.

Court records show that Smith was in court for divorce proceedings Wednesday--a day before the shooting occurred.

Authorities confirmed the two suspected were involved in the shooting, which left a third Fort Carson soldier in stable condition, are in  the Douglas County Jail.

"One victim remains hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries and the incident remains under investigation," Fort Carson officials told Denver7 on Friday.

Reports of an active shooter situation flooded from the Army post on Thursday afternoon after post officials sent out shelter in place orders to soldiers at the installation.

A lockdown was publicly reported not long after 4 p.m., and authorities later confirmed there was a single shooting, not an active shooter situation.

Later that evening, at least one suspect was taken into custody. It's not yet known if the soldiers have been charged with a crime.
