14 officers shot in Colorado in 3 months

Just two days after a Denver police officer was shot by a burglary suspect, three more law enforcement officers were shot on the job.

In Park County Wednesday, three Sheriff's Office deputies were shot. One of the deputies was killed.

That now brings the total of Colorado law enforcement officers shot to 14 in the last three months.

On February 8,  Mesa County Deputy Derek Geer was shot and killed in the line of dutywhile responding to a report of a man with a gun in a neighborhood. The man, a wanted 17-year-old, shot Geer several times. Geer died.

Last month, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Deputy Jose Marquez was off-duty when he was shotoutside his girlfriend's apartment in Aurora. He survived, the suspects got away.

On December 8,Denver Police Officer Tony Lopez, Jr., was shot multiple times during a traffic stop. Lopez underwent at least three major surgeries and was released on December 31.

A week earlier, on December 2, a Denver police SWAT officer was shot and seriously inuredwhile attempting to arrest a fugitive near Sloan's Lake. The suspect was shot and killed.

On November 27, a man opened fire at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, taking the lives of three people including University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Officer Garrett Swasey. Four other officers and a deputy were injured exchanging gunfire with the suspect.

On November 15, the community mourned the loss of another law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty. Colorado State Patrol Trooper Jaime Jursevics was hit and killed while directing traffic at a crash scene south of Castle Rock.
